If you're looking for an excuse to step out of your comfort zone and venture a little farther away from downtown than you'd normally go, this music festival is the perfect place to lay down your blanket and open your picnic basket.
Navy Pier Fireworks
There's nothing quite like watching fireworks explode over a large body of water. The Navy Pier's fireworks offer a family-friendly way to celebrate the end of summer in style. It's free to check out the sparkling lights, but while you're there, you might want to consider taking a boat tour or hitching a ride on the climate-controlled Centennial Wheel.
African American Festival of Arts
Chicago's Washington Park neighborhood comes alive on Labor Day weekend, creating a simulated African village that's filled with vibrant art, interactive experiences and engaging music that'll make your heart skip a beat.
