If you want to get away with your besties for a fun weekend, consider a trip to Geneva, Illinois. It's only a one-hour train ride away, or a drive of about the same length. Geneva is a hip little town with fabulous Fox River views. It's got some fabulous restaurants where you can enjoy long, lazy lunches and dinners. Bien Trucha<\/a> is one of the highest-rated Mexican restaurants in the entire Chicago area. Make reservations at a charming boutique hotel and spa, like the Herrington Inn<\/a>. Island Park is a great place to immerse yourself in nature while you're there. <\/p>\n

Ottawa: An Hour and a Half to Fun<\/h2>\n

Ottawa, Illinois, is just an hour and a half from Chicago, and it's a fabulous weekend getaway for the end of summer. Ottawa is a historic town that serves as the entry point to Starved Rock State Park<\/a>. There, you can gaze at staggeringly tall bluffs and beautiful waterfalls hidden within canyons. You can hike a variety of trails based on your skill level. The Red Dog Grill<\/a> is a favorite spot for waterfront drinking and meals. Saugatuck, Michigan: Less Than Three Hours Away<\/h2>\n

Saugatuck, Michigan, is 141 miles from Chicago, making it a two-and-a-half to three-hour drive from most places in the city.
