Grilled SteakGreat barbecue is hard to beat. It’s a meal and an experience. We’ve gathered a few recipes you’ll want to try this summer and fall. Remember, when you’re planning to craft these barbeque delights, the grills available on the BBQ deck of our Chicago apartments are an excellent place to do so!

Delicious Barbecue Recipes

Grilled Cumin-Rubbed Hanger Steak

Hanger steak is an often underutilized cut of meat. Put it to good use next time you cook out by making a simple rub of 2 parts cumin to 1 part salt to 1 part black pepper. Rub generously on both sides of the steak and grill. Grill to an internal temperature of 130 degrees for a medium-rare steak, or higher as desired by your guests. Serve with baked potatoes and a salad for a simple, yet elegant barbecued dinner.

Barbecued Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Buffalo chicken is tasty and fun to serve but can be messy and complicated to cook. Utilizing the classic sauce on boneless, skinless breasts makes for a great sandwich stuffer. Combine 1/2 cup hot sauce with 1/4 cup melted butter and 3 tablespoons of ketchup. Use this to generously coat 4 boneless, skinless breasts. Then, barbecue the breasts until cooked thoroughly. Serve on lightly toasted buns with lettuce and blue cheese or ranch dressing.

Veggie Kebabs

When barbecuing, it’s always a good idea to have an option on hand for any vegetarian friends or those who may be trying to cut back on meat intake. Veggie kebabs are a great option. Zucchini, summer squash, peppers, onions, and cherry or grape tomatoes are excellent options to line your skewers. Grill other veggies for approximately 12 minutes on indirect heat and add the tomatoes for the last 3 to 5 minutes. Serve with your favorite vinaigrette or whip together a mixture of lemon juice, honey, olive oil, salt, and pepper to drizzle on the kebabs after they are cooked.

Grilled Corn

The perfect accompaniment to nearly any barbecued meal is grilled corn. Husk your corn and gently rub with olive oil. Grill on medium-high until tender–approximately 18 to 20 minutes. Serve with available butter, mayonnaise, chili powder, Parmesan cheese, lemon pepper, Old Bay, garlic and other seasoning options for your guests to create their own perfect grilled corn.

If you’re looking for a great place to live in Chicago, IL, that offers the ideal spot for hosting friends and loved ones for barbecues and other gatherings, call or contact us at Presidential Towers today. We look forward to showing you our available floor plans!

BBQ RibsFather's Day is right around the corner, and if you don't have a place to take your dad this year, it's time to start researching a few restaurants. If you haven't started your research yet, we have a list of great barbecue restaurants to get you started. What dad wouldn't love barbecue on Father's Day?

Father's Day Restaurants to Try This Year

  • Barn & Company – If you've never been to this Lincoln Park restaurant, you are missing out. The smoked meats and chicken are some of the best in the area. The restaurant also has a great reputation in the city, so you can't go wrong with this option for good ole dad.
  • Chuck's Southern Comforts Cafe – If you're trying to save a bit of money, you can get some delicious food for less than $20 per person at this spot. The brisket and rib tips are a must-have on the menu, but the sampler is also a good option, especially if it's your first time dining here and you want to try a variety of offerings. The restaurant offers a unique menu with its Cajun-Creole, Mexican and Southern food blend of flavors.
  • Honky Tonk BBQ – If you're more into some Memphis-style dry-rubbed barbecue, this is the place you need to go. It's also a place where you can get some of the best pulled pork in the city. There may even be some live music that you and your dad can enjoy on Father's Day while eating some good barbecue.

You're sure to enjoy any of these choices for your Father's Day meal. You may want to let your dad help you decide which restaurant he prefers. It's also a good idea to make reservations, if possible. That way, you won't have to keep your dad waiting once you arrive at the restaurant. If you are also looking for a new place to call home that you would be proud to show your dad, look no further than our apartments in Chicago. Stop by today to see what we have available and move in before Father's Day!

BBQ RibsDating back to the Civil War, we have celebrated Memorial Day the last week of May, and it marks the official start of summer. On the 28th of May, 2018, we'll honor and remember all the men and women who've died serving with the American armed forces.

To honor such heroic service and sacrifice, American families prepare delicacies to celebrate their own way. But to make it even more phenomenal, here are a few BBQ recipes and restaurants you ought to try this Memorial Day.

Guy’s St. Louis Ribs With Tequila BBQ Sauce

If you’ve ever tried it, then you can agree that tequila adds some sweet flavor to everyone’s favorite dish.

Upon preparing your ribs with the rest of the ingredients, brush your tequila BBQ sauce on both sides of the rib while allowing time to heat. The result is juicy yet crisp, tasty ribs for all to enjoy. Check out the recipe at Woman’s Day.

Classic Potato Salad

This coming Memorial Day, prepare Classic Potato Salad, and witness as everyone fights for the last, delicious scoop.

Ingredients for this recipe include Yukon gold potatoes chopped into pieces, boiled eggs, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, and butterhead lettuce. For the best flavor, serve cold or at room temperature. Find the full recipe courtesy of Delish.

Green Street Smoked Meats

Located in the great city of Chicago, Green Street Smoked Meats is not your typical restaurant.

A friendly staff member will welcome you. Upon entering the joint, serene atmosphere decorated with strings of bulbs renders the place lively and makes you feel at home.

The scent of meats will get you salivating even before you can take your seat. Check out the menu, and order delicious, crisp, smoked BBQ with some macaroni salad, coleslaw, or corn on the side.

With a bottle of wine, your hot chopped brisket, ribs, or hot links will taste heavenly.

Blackwood BBQ

Conveniently located in the heart of Chicago, Blackwood BBQ is a great spot for high-quality, delicious barbeque on Memorial Day.

Every meal is hand-selected and hand-prepared by trained chefs passionate about what they do.

The flavored, juicy, seasoned meat you want comes accompanied by six types of sauces—all with the goal of meeting the tastes and preferences of every guest who walks through those doors.

Service there is top-notch, thanks to the friendly staff. And do you know the best part? The food is surprisingly scrumptious and affordable.
